Honouring the few

Harvard at CranfieldIt's not every day that I end up going to work on a Saturday but it does happen now and again and this weekend was one of those days.  I was asked by work if I could go in and take some official pictures of a reunion event for retired fighter pilots.  Like I was going to say no to nosing around a few vintage planes!

The event was for members of the No 5 British Flying Training School (BFTS), who were a group of pilots who trained for RAF service in Florida during WWII.

It's the second year they held their event at Cranfield and this year we managed to blag a flypast by a Harvard and a couple PT22 trainers.  They even landed and let the old boys have a look around.  It was brilliant to see some many walking sticks get discarded in order to allow them to climb inside them!  Living proof that boys never quite grow up!

Naturally I took loads of pictures and you can see them on my Flikr account or there are some, and this is cool, you can see them on the BBC Three Counties site. Check me out, published now!!!

Interesting to see if we do it again next year - hope so, they were a nice bunch and without them I may not be living in a country that lets me write crap on a blog so thanks guys!
